Marie-Cécile Stutvoet (Director Legal & Contracts and Chief Compliance Officer):
Being a legal counsel and contract manager at Thales surpasses the legal métier. You are in the middle of a business that is strongly driven by both safety and commerce. Often in a complex political and cultural environment. After all, the world is our stage! We follow the rhythm of our customers, which requires flexibility. Apart from commercial sensitivity, being able to identify risks ànd risk mitigating measures is of the utmost important. Those mitigating measures will hardly ever be established contractually, however. It’s up to you to find the best solutions to this ongoing challenge. Sounds like a great fit? We’d love to hear from you!

Jobdescription Legal Counsel & Contractmanager Thales (Hengelo)

Our Legal & Contracts team of Thales in the Netherlands consists of about 20 people, based in both Hengelo and Huizen. These are legal counsel, contract managers and trade compliance professionals dedicated to their jobs and the organisation. Your future Legal & Contracts coworkers deal with complex legal issues. The main part of their activities exists of assisting the capture team with the drafting, negotiation and closure of (international) contracts and the subsequent execution of those contracts in the project team. These are contracts in an often culturally and politically challenging environment – no two days are the same.

About your future job
We established ‘self-organising’ teams to facilitate continuous learning and improvement, and give a lot of responsibility to each individual in the team. You are given a lot of flexibility in planning your workweek: we strive to work about three days a week in the office, and two days remote. As our counterparts and partners are all over the world, traveling will be part of the job.

Your activities will focus on the capturing and the subsequent execution of sales contracts. This means that you’re involved from drafting and negotiation up to the closing of a contract when all obligations from Thales’ and the customer's side have been fulfilled.

Above all, you will be a specialist within the team on certain legal topics, such as for example intellectual property, GDPR, purchasing, compliance or environmental regulations/ export control. You’ll plan and organize your tasks and projects yourself. These are often driven by the customer’s time schedule, which may change on a daily basis. This means that being flexible and able to continuously monitor and adapt your priorities is of the utmost importance. Within the Thales organisation, our colleagues in the sales and projects departments will be the ones you'll most often work with.
