Currently AccorHotels is going through a period of transition and is embarking into strong business changes. In the role of Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer this means you will play a role in supporting and implementing this transition in terms of mind-set and services provided. You will be based in Amsterdam or Brussels and this role will entail traveling between the two offices on a weekly bases. You will be reporting directly to the Finance Director Benelux and to the General Counsel Europe.

Job description Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer AccorHotels

As a Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer you are responsible for providing general legal advice to the management team, the managed by hotels of AccorHotels, as well as the service departments at the support office. This means that legal cases will appear to you in various ways, shapes and forms. Furthermore, you are the one to select and supervise outside counsel and legal firms acting for AccorHotels, whether in transaction or in litigation. You will be expected to be appointed company secretary for Accorhotels legal companies in the Benelux.

In practice, it comes (amongst others) down to the following:
• Support the development of the AccorHotels network in the Benelux by participating in diverse development committees, ensuring transactions and contracts that are being made are compliant with local law and legislation;
• Drafting and negotiating management contracts and ensure the correct implementation of the standard franchise contracts;
• Develop corporate structures, involving joint ventures and minority interest;
• Delivering support to the business and the support office for al litigations and corporate legal issues, amongst which delivering support to the clients complaints department; 

You will be reporting directly to the Finance Director Benelux and to the General Counsel Europe. This role can be fulfilled either from our Amsterdam or our Brussels office and will entail traveling between the two offices on a weekly bases.

Requirements Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer AccorHotels

To excel in the position it is essential that you have excellent organisational skills and will need to be resistant to stress to manage transactions whilst covering the day to day operational duties an legal issues. Working in an international environment also means being able to work closely together with colleagues based in other countries. To understand our business, it is highly recommended to have experience in both working in an international, fast passed environment in leisure, retail or the property industry. In addition, you present the following skills and accomplishments:

• Master degree in Dutch or Belgian Law;
• 6 - 10 years of experience in legal positions, ideally in a mix of in-house and private practice;
• Proven focus on and ties with the business, strategic vision and a track record as a business partner;
• Must be trilingual in English, French and Dutch;
• Business acumen, business-oriented practice;
• Excellent negotiator, analytical, strategic thinker and problem solving capabilities;
• Strong understanding in commercial law and good knowledge in corporate and litigation law;
• Willingness to travel between the two offices on a weekly bases. 

A one-day assessment will be a part of the selection procedure.
